What’s CBD oil?
Cannabis plants have more than 100 active compounds, but cannabidiol, or CBD, is the one that is most often used as a medicine. CBD is different from the main active compound in cannabis, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), in that it does not make people feel “high.” CBD oils have a lot of CBD in them and can be used to treat health problems.
Dr. Daniel Inman, a veterinarian at Burlington Emergency Veterinary Specialists in Williston, Vermont, says that there aren’t many traditional medical studies that look at how CBD oil affects cats. “We don’t recommend Best CBD Oil for Cats for our patients, but holistic vets are using it to treat pain, inflammation, and anxiety, among other things.”
Your vet should tell you to do this kind of treatment, and you shouldn’t do it without their permission.
Is it OK for cats to use CBD oil?
Even though there haven’t been any specific scientific studies on how cannabis affects pets. There are, however, some bad things that can happen if you give your cat CBD oil. These include stomach problems and drowsiness, both of which can be fixed by stopping the use of the oil.
This means that the CBD oil has the effect you want it to have and that you won’t accidentally take too much.
Ohio, says that she would be hesitant to recommend cannabis products for cats because there isn’t enough official, documented research on how they affect cats.
“I’ve heard that marijuana products can help people with nerve pain, seizures that won’t stop, anxiety, and loss of appetite. “I have a lot of medications in each of those categories [that are not cannabis] that have been used safely in cats for years and that I am comfortable using and understand well,” she says. “The FDA has approved these medicines after they went through a lot of testing. Why would I want to use a treatment I don’t fully understand and can’t guarantee safe or even works?”
She also says that the CBD products on the market are not regulated by the FDA, so people can’t be sure that they’re giving their pets the right amount.
Also, it’s important to note that while cats and dogs are usually safe around CBD oil, cannabis plants are not. “There is many evidence that cats who nibble on marijuana plants can get sick,” Guess says.
Is CBD Oil Legal?
No matter how well CBD products work for cats, there is also the question of whether or not they are legal. If a cannabis product that has less than 0.3% THC, it is called “hemp,” and it is not a controlled substance. This is true in all, if not all, CBD oil. The more important thing is to talk to your vet about this course of treatment.
