Tips to Deal with Kidney Infection At Home

    1. Do Not Drink Alcohol

Kidneys do the job of filtering out harmful substances and toxins. When you drink alcohol, it puts pressure on your kidneys to do some extra work. It will prevent the infection’s healing process or may lead to the worst condition. Kidney Doctors say that we should avoid alcohol during the recovery because antibiotics with alcohol can be dangerous for you as it causes dizziness.

Caffeine does the same to your kidneys as alcohol. Experts recommend staying away from the alcohol and caffeine intake as it may worsen the condition.

    2. Water, Water, and Water

To eliminate the bacteria faster, you should drink lots of water. When you drink water, it will increase the chances of bacteria to flush out and clear out your urinary system. Experts say that a person who drinks lots of water has a lower risk of developing UTIs that are the root of kidney infection. It also improves the skin and prevents many potential health issues. So, we can say that it is a good practice to keep.

    3. Take Vitamin C

According to studies, vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and many fruits and veggies contain vitamin C. During the treatment, you should get some vitamin C that can protect your tissues from oxidative stress to improve your kidney health. It also boosts the enzymes within the kidneys and prevents kidney scarring. You can take vitamin C supplements or eat a healthy diet that contains vitamin C.

    4. Include Cranberry Juice in Your Diet Plan

Studies revealed that cranberry juice has been used for years to treat UTIs and other bladder infections. If you or your loved one has a kidney infection, drink cranberry juice. Avoid the packaged cranberry juices that contain sweeteners as they are not good for you.

    5. Ease Pain with Epsom salts

Researchers believe that Epsom salt helps to ease the pain. It might be uncomfortable for you to tolerate the pain while taking the medicine. Some side effects of antibiotics can cause abdominal pain. Make sure that you take a bath of Epsom salt with warm water to prevent the pain.

    6. Eat Apples

Apple contains high acid content that helps your kidneys to maintain urine acidity. When you keep balancing the acidity in your urine, it will prevent the growth of the bacteria. Apple or apple juice both are beneficial for your urinary tract as it has anti-inflammatory properties that can promote your kidney health. It also promotes the kidney recovery process.

    Final Thoughts

You should not avoid the symptoms of the kidney infection and start your treatment with a licensed professional. Researchers suggest avoiding baking soda use for kidney infection treatment as no evidence shows its positive effects.
